good luck laure!

good luck to laure who is competing in fuerte in the final women’s pwa freestyle event this year.  she currently is lying in 3rd place overall after a
2nd in lanzerote and missing the podium after a massive crash in pozo finishing fourth.  fingers crossed she can come back in this event and take 2nd overall this year.

40 knot windsurfing and pure glass wakeboarding

last week was back to being action packed.  we had a 40 + knot westerly through with a 5m + swell.  i just about held onto my 3.7 at geary’s (the g-spot) and made a couple of backside 3s which i was happy about.

on the sunday the sun came out and for ben’s birthday we had an epic wakeboard session on the river.  even after breaking his foot this year ben went massive straight away.  it was awesome to watch.  i’m now considering getting a board and getting more into it as the river is only 15 mins away....

thanks again to jenna for the pics, i’m sure there are some from the windsurfing session around, i’ll have to track them down.

waves at cott

it’s been a while coming but we have finally had a good winter session.  a front came through that pushed in some swell and we had a few hours of southerly to go with it.  i’m definitely a bit rusty but it was fun… there are some more photos here thanks to jenna

Welcome to the fresh new look for simonhurrey.com

I am currently experiencing my first winter since 1997, but it’s not all bad, I’m in perth, Australia.

The winter swell is pumping and we are still getting the occasional storm for some wavesailing and the odd bit of freestyle breeze.  I’m as fully into my windsurfing as ever and hopefully next summer will see some epic conditions here in WA…
